good and bad experience with the lunar glide. I find them very spacious at the front which has cause blisters on longer runs but they are very supportive.

Thanks for the advice on the "yaktrax"...I´m english and just moved to Sweden from Spain in time for the nice, cold weather...I can´t feel my toes until after kilometre 3 - I feel like the Jamaican bobsleigh team so I´m happy to find this thread. What has worked for me is many thin layers instead of 1 or two thicker layers. Hopefully will soon get used to it :-)

It´s a long answer...and depends on each individual but.....

I also run in the mornings without eating (only water and coffee) because it teaches the body to burn your fat reserves instead of using the food you just put into your body and also I don´t want to wake up 2 hours before I run so that I can eat breakfast.

It´s a great way to lose fat and stay in shape. The coffee will increase your heart rate and therefore pump extra blood around the system which is also great :-)

As Mattias and His also mentioned...I find it´s more important to re-fuel afterwards to re-stock the muscles and repair the muscle damage with protein.

Before a race, it´s usually better to eat to ensure best performance - so therefore make sure (if you do race) that your body is familar with digesting food before a run but I would always suggest you eat slow release carbs 2 or 3 hours before and fruit upto 1 hour before you run.

Sorry for the long answer (and in english) :-)

Hi there Maria, firstly I apologise for the English. I have been living in sweden only 6 weeks.
Yes I'm running at Bislett and I do want some company and yes I am taking a car.
Is that good for you?

Thanks, Lee

Perfect Lars!! Thank you very much.
It's tough to search for things on google in swedish even with google translator...but this little place in Örebro should do nicely!!

If anyone knows any place to train in Karlskoga/ and or a club...then i would really like to know.

asics fuji es are incredible shoes for the trails and for me, have even been great in the snow and ice. Lots of grip and very comfy.
I'd also check out "Salomon S-Lab 2XT Wings" and "Salomon SpeedCross 2" . Salomon seem to really know what they're doing these days!

Sorry for the English...but I wanted to write something and my Swedish isn't so great.

It's really important to choose the right shoe as it affects performance, injuries, enjoyment of running...everything!!

1. First, choose a good running store with experts, ideally as Kristofer said with a treadmill...think quick-fire, trial and error and don't be scared to spend hours in the store finding something great for you.
2.At a good store they should be able to record a video of you running on a treadmill and decide how your foot falls, and therefore how much support/cushioning you require...a good idea is to take in your old running shoes. You will be able to examine them to see the areas that they are worn down from the road.
3. Depending on your foot shape you may be best suited to a certain brand of shoe. For example, I find adidas usually very narrow fitting. Again if you examine your old shoes to see if the outline of your toes are visible then you probably need a slightly bigger shoe.

When you find the right shoes...don't let them go!!! Also...run around for 5 minutes to make sure they're the ones!

On the contrary to what Kristofer said, I think you're profile picture looks incredible, you're in great shape!! I think that's why I spent so much time on my answer.. :-)

No Karin, are you serious?? Lilly originally asked for advice on running shoes and then we very rudely commented on something completely different, and possibly a more private topic.

You have praised Kristofer for being rude and intrusive.

Would the same concerns have been raised if the profile picture was of an overweight girl? We don't even know if this is a before or after picture..

It wasn't my original impression of your reply, I thought you answered in the most thoughtful way. But the orginal post asked for running shoe advice and nothing more....

This is a runners forum, I think if you asked most non-runners about the weight of regular runners they may also use words such as "bizarre and "alarm bells" and we in return may think they're overweight.
If you feel good, that's all that matters surely..

My opinion is that Lilly looks great!

In terms of reading between the lines, can tell me where in the original post Lilly mentioned wanting advice on her weight

I'm sorry, I didn't word my reply correctly but if you can read between the lines so well, that shouldn't have been a problem for you.

You clicked into her profile and made a comment on something she hadn't asked for help or advice on. The topic is running shoes. You made a nice answer in terms of running shoes and then screwed up by being intrusive.

This is me reading between the lines..."a heavy (99kg) stride". Maybe you "should" lose weight? But I tell you what, if you're happy, carry on doing what you're doing. But I obviously won't be the one commenting on your attractiveness.

Hej Karin,

I can't find a review on the "Asics Gel Fuji ES" that I use now but here's the link to a pair..they're not as structured in the heal as the speedcross.

Here's a link to a review on the Saloman XT Wings, they're red hot now. There's a few other reviews for trail shoes there also..

I've been trying to plan to do something a bit unique on my birthday...now I found it. There's a few of my running friends taking a trip to Alicante for a training holiday that week so I think I can talk them into it also....and I'll ask the Swedish friends to translate the rules!!
Tack for en fint competition!!

Nice to hear Lilly! Strong abdominal are great for running!!

Here's a couple of examples of "normal pronation" , "over pronation" and "under pronation". I know it starts to sound/seem a little technical but when I got this right (by speaking to an expert in a shoe shop), I started to enjoy running even more than.

I think it's fantastic.!
The better the fit of the shoe, the more you run, the fitter you become and the better you feel!!

Any room for a short English man? Only 6 days to go now...
I live in Barcelona most of the year (when I'm not in sweden).....its quite simple to obtain tickets for the matches usually. There's 15,000 tickets for tourists at every game of the season I am told. So in the winter months with less tourists and only tired marathon runners, there should be plenty of tickets at the stadium, or front the ticket sellers outside the ground.

My advice would be to buy from an agent on Las Ramblas, just off Placa de Catulunya (central Barca) . If you need directions for it, let me know.

Are you guys all meeting up at the pasta party?

The human body is brilliant at repairing itself and only 40 or so years ago there were plenty of top flight footballers who would smoke casually before the game on the sidelines...
I have discovered that running is the perfect CURE for the smoker and the perfect trick to make one stop! The thing is, as you begin to run more regular you will naturally want to make it easier for yourself and so the smoking will become a symbol of pain...if you stick with the running and start to make targets for yourself, then in the not too distant future you will laugh at yourself when you think that you used to smoke.
